Important Notice: High Temperatures & Kimchi Jars

We would like to bring to your attention an issue that has arisen due to the recent high temperatures, specifically affecting our Classic Kimchi and Mild Kimchi jars. While we strive to provide you with the highest quality products, we regret to inform you that these particular varieties have been impacted by the intense temperatures, resulting in an accelerated fermentation process. We want to assure you in this situation the product is completely safe; however, it may lead to a fizzy taste and, in rare instances, popping jars.

At Eaten Alive, we believe in transparency and keeping you informed. Our commitment to your satisfaction is our top priority. Here's what you need to know about this situation:

1. Fizzy Taste: Due to the hot weather, the fermentation process in some jars of Classic Kimchi and Mild Kimchi may have been expedited, resulting in a very fizzy taste. We want to assure you that while this taste may be unexpected, it does not pose any health risks. It is simply a natural consequence of the accelerated fermentation process. If you come across a jar with a fizzy taste that you find less enjoyable, we recommend leaving the lid on loosely for a couple hours, as this should subside.

2. Popping Jars: In rare cases, the increased fermentation activity caused by the high temperatures may lead to pressure building up within the Classic Kimchi and Mild Kimchi jars, causing them to pop unexpectedly. We want to emphasize that this occurrence does not present a safety hazard. However, we understand that it can be surprising and result in minor messes. To ensure your safety and prevent any accidental splatters, we kindly ask that you handle the jars with caution. When opening a jar, please do so in a controlled manner, and open it over a sink or a plate, as it may overflow. Again, we recommend leaving the jar opened or the kimchi in a bowl, to allow some gas to subside.

Rest assured, we are actively addressing this issue to minimise its impact and prevent future occurrences. Our production team is implementing additional measures to regulate the fermentation process, even in challenging weather conditions. We are committed to providing you with the exceptional Classic Kimchi and Mild Kimchi experience you have come to expect from Eaten Alive.

To ensure the optimal quality of your Kimchi, we kindly ask you to store the jars chilled at a temperature below 5 degrees. This will help slow down the fermentation process and minimise the potential for fizzy taste and popping jars. Opening the lid, 'burping', the kimchi from time to time can also help reduce gas build up and does not affect the shelf life.

Your cooperation in following these storage guidelines is greatly appreciated as it will contribute to maintaining the exceptional quality and taste of our products.

Thank you for being a valued member of our community.
